Mount Fuji or Fujiyama, also Fuji-san is the highest mountain in Japan, 3776m above sea level, with the apex broken by a cone-shaped crater 610 m (2000 ft) in diameter. Located in the southern Honshū Island, near Tokyo.

 

A perfectly symmetrical volcanic cone, the mountain is a near-mythical national symbol immortalized in countless works of art. The mountain is part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, the most popular vacation area in Japan. It is surrounded by five lakes: Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Yamanaka, Lake Sai, Lake Motosu and Lake Shoji.
